Workshop about EuropeAid
The NGO Support Centre delivered a workshop on the 21st of March to disseminate information relating to EuropeAid and CyprusAid. The workshop was funded by CyprusAID and its purpose was to share information with NGO’s working in the areas of development in Cyprus about the opportunities for applying for grant funds related to development projects. The training was conducted by Lorraine Marriott at the NGO Support Centre. Trainings such as these are important because European Union Governments provide over half of the world’s aid and rely and mandate member states to contribute as part of their membership in the European Union. When Cypriot NGOs have the capacity to execute projects working with or in developing countries, they can help the Republic of Cyprus be sustainable contribution to their obligation of providing 0.17% of their GNI by 2010, as well as contributing the sustainability of NGOs working on development issues.

They then had the chance to develop an action plan on implementing such activities in their own classroom and school.
