‘ENGAGE on the move’ spreads the word at the May festival in Potamia!

There are no translations available.

As part of its campaign to promote peace and reconciliation across all corners of the island, “ENGAGE – Do your part for peace” will be participating at this year’s May festival in Potamia, on Sunday 26th of May.

The festival will take place from 10:30 till 14:30 and is part of an initiative by the Potamia community to present the history and heritage of the village. The festival will include a photography exhibition, historical documentation from the bi-communal everyday life of locals, folk dances, games for the children and traditional Cyprus food.

Engage volunteers and officers will inform participants about the program’s important efforts and mission to engage both communities in constructive dialogue. More specifically, the team will promote the priorities set by the Active Dialogue Networks that have taken place this year on Gender and Diversity as well as Sustainable Development. Engage will also distribute informational material, new policy papers and giveaways for both adults and children.

During the event, our volunteers will inform the public about Cyprus’ Civil Society character and emphasize the importance of volunteerism and Active Citizenship. Our program will also encourage the audience to voice their opinions on the peace process.

We hope to see you all there!

How to set up an NGO

There are no translations available.

so_you_wnat_to_set_up_an_NGO

At the NGO Support Centre we are dedicated to supporting civic engagement, participations and citizen's initiatives.

It is our firm belief that pushing for positive change in our society is extremely important for the promotion and safeguarding of human rights and the only effective way to promote citizen interests.
As active members of society, citizens are the force which drives a state forward; a force that can – and should - push for change in our neighborhood, city and in our country as a whole.

We are extremely excited to have observed a heightened interest over the past few months, from individuals and groups of people that want to take initiatives and form organizations to promote causes they believe in, such as the preservation of the environment, the protection of human rights and offering assistance to minority groups and people in need.

We have also observed that many people who contact us for information and support experience quite a few problem during the registration process. It appears that there is a lack of information or awareness, concerning Non-Governmental Organizations. We would like to clarify what the term ‘NGO’ really means and explain the requirements and steps needed to officially register an organization. This is why we have undertaken the initiative to compile a manual entitled “SO YOU WANT TO SET UP AN NGO”. This manual included all the basic information needed along with some tips based on our own experience. Moreover we have gathered exiting reports concerning the registration process developed by Joanna Moshman and the European Centre for Not-For- Profit Law.
